Hero Maestro vs Honda Activa: Specs Comparison

Hero MotoCorp has been a dominating two-wheeler manufacturer in India for a very long time. However, the charm is now slowly fading away as the company has been facing a downslide in terms of the sales. It is still the best-selling two-wheeler brand in India but the growth has taken a dip lately.

Under such a circumstance, Hero introduced the Maestro scooter, which is one among the many scooters presently available in India. The Hero Maestro Price has always been competitive, which made it one of the most successful models and has boosted the company's sales significantly.

On the other hand, Honda is presently the number one two-wheeler maker in terms of growth and is deadly close to Hero to take up the rein as a volume churner. The company has been working on many scooters and motorcycles, out of which, the Activa has been the highest selling model, much more than many of Hero’s motorcycles.

So this is how the build-up could be best made. One, a product of a company losing its charm and the other, a model from a company that has made it big with sheer hard work and perseverance. Let’s find out what the Hero Maestro vs Honda Activa ultimately results to.

The looks

The Hero Maestro is undoubtedly one of the best-designed scooters in the present scenario. It is edgy and spacious. There are a lot of bold curves everywhere. The front section houses headlamps on the handlebar and turns indicators on the front body. The seats are relatively longer than most scooters and the foot deck is spacious too, so that you can even fit in some portion of your cargo right there. The fiber body makes the body excessively light with the overall kerb weight being just 110 kgs. It gets 12-inch alloy wheels and 130 mm brakes on the front wheel. The scooter is better than the Activa in terms of comfort and suspension. It gets a telescopic hydraulic suspension for the front wheel and unit spring loaded rear suspension.

On the other hand, the Honda Activa is just the opposite of the Hero Maestro. It might not be the best-designed scooter other there but ranks the highest in terms of its utility. That Activa probably the longest seat in the segment and can fit heavy people with a lot of space remaining. It is not very edgy and sharp in design but is more of soft and roundish in nature. The indicators are installed on the handlebar itself. The Honda Activa has smaller wheels compared to the Maestro. The 10-inch wheels get 130 mm brake units on the front as well as on the rear wheel. As for the suspension, it gets a spring hydraulic units on both the wheels.

The power source

The Hero Maestro is powered by a 110 cc single cylinder, air cooled engine with a carburettor fuel delivery system. The engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 8.31 bhp at 8,000 revolutions per minute while producing a highest torque of 8.30 Nm at 6,500 revs per minute.

The Honda Activa has a similar 109.2 cc single cylinder, air cooled engine. The engine can make a maximum power of 8 bhp at 7,500 revs per minute along with a peak torque of 8.83 Nm at 8.83 revs per minute.

So which one should you buy?

The Hero Maestro is presently a very popular scooter from a company that is not much known for its scooters. The Honda Activa, on the other hand, is well-known and popular, and also a volume churner for the company. It is even a touch cheaper than the Hero Maestro price.

However, when you look at the scooters individually, the Maestro will please more of the younger generation owing to its superior design, while the Activa will be liked by the purist, who won’t use his scooter as a style statement but a utility automotive. Both the scooter have similar engines and thus, the same power production. Hence, the mechanical aspect cannot be compared much. The only comparable factor is the design, in which the Maestro wins due to its urban styling.
